Membership

Interested in joining Hilltown Riders? Check out the information below for answers to many common questions regarding joining, dues, meetings and work credit.

Dues

Annual membership is currently $200 per household. This includes all machines insured under the head of household, and all riders under the age of 25 residing at the same address (proof of residence for additional members 18 to 25 may be required).

Please keep in mind this does not apply to non-member riders using a member’s machine, as they are considered guests and must possess a guest pass issued by an appropriate Hilltown Officer.

The Hilltown dues cycle runs from 5/1 – 4/30 of the following year. New members pay a proportional share of the full yearly rate based on Tour/join date and the full yearly rate for subsequent years.

Work Credit

Work credit may be issued for members who help out at various sanctioned work parties and special events throughout the year. While credits and rewards are subject to change and must be approved by project leaders and the board of directors, typically they are as follows:

12 Work Credit Hours = $100 Credit toward Annual Dues (Applied next renewal cycle)

35 Work Credit Hours = $200 Credit toward Annual Dues (Applied next renewal cycle)

The worker credit cycle coincides with the calendar year 01/01-12/31.

Proof of Insurance

Insurance is required for all machines operated on Hilltown properties. A copies of the valid Insurance Card specific to each machine must always be carried when machines are operated on Hilltown properties and must be available for inspection upon request.

Hard copy of the Insurance Card for any machine to be operated on Hilltown properties must be provided at the time of initial membership (at the “Tour”), whenever an additional machine to be operated on Hilltown properties is acquired, and when additional or replacement club identification license plates are requested.

Failure to produce valid proof of insurance upon request when operating on Hlltown properties may result in loss of membership.

Meetings

General meetings (which include new member votes) are held the second Wednesday of every month. Locations are posted in the Event Calendar

Board meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month. Please note that while board meetings are open to all current members, they are closed to potential members. We ask that any current member who wishes to speak at a board meeting please email the board first so that we may put you on the agenda. Items not on the agenda will be considered at the presiding board members discretion.

Membership Process

If you’re interested in joining Hilltown Riders, please fill out our Contact form and select “Join/Request a tour”. After filling out a few lines your basic information will be submitted to our volunteer tour guides who will then set up at time to meet with you and show you around the club ("The Tour"). This is a required component of the membership process.

Generally we prefer to follow a specific sequence of events for new members wishing to join. Over the years we’ve found this to be the most pain free for our volunteer members involved in the process, and although it may take a bit longer, helps us ensure all new members receive and understand the same set of rules.

Take the tour

When you have been invited to take a tour,  please arrive early and prepared to ride. If you find you cannot make it, please let your inviting Tour Guide know or you may lose your place on the waiting list.

Helmets are required at Hilltown. Make sure you have an appropriate certified helmet for everyone in your party taking the tour. Specifically, Bicycle helmets do not qualify!

Make sure you have Hard Copy of Proof of Insurance available to submit for any and all machines you intend to operate on Hilltown property, regardless of whether you are bringing it to the tour. Electronic copies, on your phone, etc. are not acceptable at your tour.

Your Insurance Cards and other required documents provided by the Tour Guide will be collected  and passed on to Club Officers for processing. You will be electronically contacted to complete the process, establish you Hilltown Riders website member profile and make appropriate payment. You will be formally voted in at an upcoming meeting and will receive your membership package by mail.

All members are expected to abide by the club’s code of ethics and established rules. The club rules and Constitution and By-Laws can be found in the member section.

Hilltown Riders OHV club allows many types of insured vehicles on the property including Dirt bikes, ATVs, and Side x Sides. Certain on/off road vehicles which mimic street legal vehicles have been banned from the club. These include but may not be limited to vehicles such as the Oreion Reeper and Oreion Epic.
